Anaya was a little girl who loved books. On sunny days, rainy days, and even snow-filled days, her favorite spot was always nestled in the corner of her room, a book wide open in her hands. Her best friend, a gray cat named Carole Lee, would curl up next to her, purring softly.
One day, while immersed in a tale of dragons and knights, Anaya discovered something peculiar. Nestled between the pages of her storybook was a picture of a kiwi. Not the fruit, but a small, round, flightless bird from far-off New Zealand with big, cute eyes. "That's odd," Anaya thought, "I've never seen a kiwi in my books before." But then, she heard a meow from Carole Lee. Looking down, Anaya saw the cat was staring at the picture too. The cat seemed oddly excited, her tail flicking back and forth.
Just as Anaya was about to turn back to her book, she heard a strange sound coming from outside her window. It was the siren of a police car, followed by the distinct crunch of gravel as it pulled up to her house. Anaya and Carole Lee rushed to the window to see what was going on. The car door opened and out stepped a policewoman looking rather puzzled, holding a picture that looked exactly like the kiwi from Anaya's book.
