Once upon a time, in a cozy little forest, there lived a kind squirrel named Frankie. Frankie had a fluffy tail and loved to play hide and seek with his friends. But most of all, Frankie loved strawberries. They were sweet, red, and juicy, just like the ones growing near his tree house.
One sunny afternoon, Frankie found the biggest, shiniest strawberry he had ever seen. "I must share this with my friend Sarah," he thought. Sarah was not a squirrel, but a gentle bat who slept during the day and woke up when the stars came out.
Frankie waited for the night to fall and the stars to twinkle. He put the strawberry in a little basket and scampered over to Sarah’s home, which was tucked away in a cozy cave. “Wake up, Sarah! I have a surprise for you!” he whispered.
Sarah yawned and stretched her wings. Her eyes sparkled when she saw the strawberry. “Let’s have a midnight picnic,” she suggested with excitement. Frankie nodded, and off they went, with Sarah flying silently above as Frankie hopped along the forest floor.
They found a perfect spot where the moon shone brightly, bathing the forest in a soft, silver glow. Frankie and Sarah set out their picnic: the big, shiny strawberry, some crunchy nuts for Frankie, and Sarah brought a sweet, juicy pineapple. They enjoyed their treats, giggling and chatting about the night’s wonders.
Suddenly, Mommy Owl hooted from a nearby tree, “What a wonderful picnic you have!” Frankie and Sarah invited her to join, and she swooped down, bringing some moonberries to share. They all ate and laughed together, feeling happy and full.
After the picnic, Sarah showed Frankie how she could fly by the light of the stars. Frankie clapped his little paws in delight, watching his friend dance in the sky. “Thank you for the strawberry and this lovely picnic,” Sarah said. “I had so much fun!”
Frankie smiled and felt his heart swell with joy. They promised to have picnics more often, under the twinkling stars, where they could share the simple joys of strawberries and friendship. And with happy hearts, they said goodnight, already looking forward to their next starlight picnic.
